Researching Over Ear Headphones Under $100
Researching the top over ear headphones under $100 can either be an exciting experience if you enjoy the process or it can be downright frustrating.
Most people dislike sifting through search results to find the best choice. Even worse, they do not necessarily know what to look for during their search. I’d like to help put your mind at ease by sharing my research process with you below.
Overall, I like to focus on a few key areas depending on the over ear headset. For wireless headsets, I like to focus on Bluetooth strength and capabilities, noise cancelling features, sound quality, comfort, and battery life to name a few critical areas to focus on.
For wired over ear headphones, battery life and Bluetooth capabilities obviously aren’t as important. In this case, you should focus on sound quality, earphone comfort, bass and treble, cable length, and positive customer reviews.
If you have a bigger budget and want to spend a bit more money you should read our post on the best over ear headphones under $200.
With that said, let’s dive into the review portion of this information.
The Best Over Ear Headphones Under $100 In2024
1. Sennheiser HD280PRO Headphones – Best Overall
The Sennheiser HD280PRO Headphones in my opinion are the Best Overall headphones under $100 because they’re dynamic closed ear headphones, they’re incredibly comfortable with soft cushiony ear pads, and the audio quality is second to none.
✔️ What we like: Replaceable audio cord, headband padding, and ear pads
❌ What we don’t like: Speaker blew out after five months
Standout Features
- Closed ear headphones
- Lightweight design
- Comfortable and ergonomic
- Extended frequency response
- Soft headband and ear padding
For inexpensive headphones under $100, I really believe the Sennheiser HD280PRO model is the best of the bunch. It’s a lightweight, so you don’t have to worry about getting a headache if you like to listen to music or audiobooks using headphones for extended periods of time. You’ll hardly notice that they’re even on top of your head and covering your ears.
And speaking of ears, the soft and comfortable cushion padding is lightweight, extremely fluffy, and it feels very comfortable on top of your ears. The same holds true for the padding on the headband itself. It’s so soft that you barely even notice it’s there.
I read a story recently about a customer who had his right ear speaker blow out after owning these headphones for five months. This obviously isn’t a good thing because listening to audio out of one ear is very frustrating and off-putting to say the least. In this case, I would contact the manufacturer and let them know about the problem. They may do the right thing and replace it, but you’ll never know unless you reach out and try to get an answer.
At the end of the day, I’m a big fan of the Sennheiser HD280 Pro earphones under 100 bucks because of the 32-dB attenuation, the extended frequency response, the natural sound reproduction, and the overall fact that the audio sounds amazing whenever I listen to my favorite music.
2. WXY Over Ear Bluetooth Headphones – Best Bluetooth
- WXY Bluetooth Headphones Over Ear provide superior hi-fi stereo sound with 40mm drives, helping you enjoy your music better. They will become your good companion no matter when you are jogging, yoga,...
The WXY Over Ear Bluetooth Headphones run circles around the competition because of their lightweight and comfortable design, their powerful Bluetooth technology, 18 hours of battery life, and superior hi-fi stereo sound. Add to that the built-in microphone, hands-free calling, and wired and wireless modes and you have one heck of a device on your hands.
✔️ What we like: 6 colors to choose from and 500 MAH battery
❌ What we don’t like: Doesn’t work properly, looks and feels cheap
Standout Features
- 40 mm drivers
- 18 hours of playback time
- Full charge in 2 ½ hours
- Bluetooth 5.0
- Comfortable earmuffs
Although the manufacturer focuses their marketing toward women, the WXY headphones are available in six exciting colors including black, black blue, black gray, black green, black red, and rose gold.
If you’re looking for outstanding headphones to wear while working out, watching TV, or listening to your favorite music, you’ll love this option because of the 18 hours of continuous battery life, the built-in microphone for hands-free calling, and the 40 mm stereo sound drivers.
People of all ages appreciate the Bluetooth 5.0 capability, because they can stream their favorite music and podcasts while on the go and enhance their listening experience.
Plus, the built-in microphone and the earmuffs controls provide hands-free calling, hands-free music playback, and hands-free volume control, which are excellent if you’re wearing them while you work, work out, or performing other day-to-day activities like cleaning your apartment, driving your car, or anything else for that matter.
One reviewer complained that the headphones didn’t work properly. She said the audio cut in and out and also complained that the headphones didn’t last very long. The same person said that the plastic looked and felt cheap, like it was going to break very easily. This person obviously had an ax to grind and they were looking for every reason to lambaste these headphones. They undoubtedly had problems, but they likely went a little overboard with their complaints because they were upset.
All in all, the WXY Over Ear Bluetooth Headphones are a great choice if you like long battery life, excellent Bluetooth connectivity, and the perfect over ear headphones under $100 to connect to your MP3 player, your MacBook, your Android phone, your tablet, or any other portable device.
3. Sony WHCH710N Headphones – Best Noise Cancelling
- Cancel out the world with smart noise cancellation.Specific uses for product : Travel
The Sony WHCH710N Headphones are the Best Noise Cancelling headphones under $100 because they are wireless and Bluetooth enabled, they have a microphone to make phone calls with, and they have a closed back noise cancelling design to improve your listening experience.
✔️ What we like: Smart noise cancellation
❌ What we don’t like: Uncomfortable to wear
Standout Features
- Wireless Bluetooth streaming
- 30 mm driver units
- 35 hours of battery life
- Quick charging capabilities
- Dual noise sensor technology
First of all, I truly love the smart noise cancellation feature that works like gangbusters on this headset. If you literally want to cancel out all of the background noise happening in the outside world, you’re in luck because these headphones do the job perfectly. So, you can eliminate all background noise and get lost in your audio experience – whether you’re listening to an audiobook or rocking out to your favorite tunes.
Next, I like the fact that these headphones are both wired and wireless. In the box, they give you a USB Type-C cable and a headphone cable. So, you can charge the headphones via the USB cable, or if you prefer plugging them in via 3.5 mm auxiliary cable, you also have the opportunity to use these headphones in this way as well. It’s always nice to have both options.
One negative to mention is the design of the headphones. The plastic headband isn’t very flexible because of the way they’re made. They fit my head fine and they’re pretty comfortable for me – especially the soft ear pad cushions. But one customer didn’t like the design at all and he said it was really uncomfortable and the plastic was digging into his head. I haven’t heard this complaint except this one time, but I figured it was worth mentioning nonetheless.
All told, the Sony WHCH710N Headphones are the best headphones under $100 because of their incredible noise cancelling capabilities. I also love that the battery life lasts for 35 hours before you need to charge it again, and it also has a dual microphone, which means there’s less ambient noise, and Bluetooth streaming is also pretty great too.
4. Srhythm Over Ear Wireless Headphones
The Srhythm Over Ear Wireless Headphones are an absolute treat because of their lightweight design, Bluetooth stereo headset, and deep bass. They also have active noise cancelling tech, incredible sound, and long playback time.
✔️ What we like: NC25 noise cancelling headphones, 40 mm stereo drivers
❌ What we don’t like: Difficulty charging, noise cancelling broke quickly
Standout Features
- Active noise cancellation technology
- Hi-fi deep bass
- Built-in noise rejecting dual microphones
- Android, iPhone, MP3 player compatible
- 115° swiveling ear cups
The Bluetooth connectivity offered by this headset rules the roost. It contains advanced Bluetooth CSR, which makes it possible to receive or make phone calls quickly with a stable Bluetooth connection. Plus, the Bluetooth features are compatible with devices of all kinds including Macs, Android, iPad, and iPhone devices.
I also appreciate the unique foldable lightweight design. Some of the larger over ear headsets can be big, bulky, and heavy and they get uncomfortable on top of your head. This lightweight design is so great because you barely even notice that you’re wearing the headphones because they are so light and comfortable.
In fact, they are only 0.4 pounds and the protein ear pads and 115° swiveling ear cups make this an outstanding design.
You can’t please everyone as you know. One reviewer had a difficult time charging his headset and said it wouldn’t hold its charge. He also said that his noise cancelling feature broke very quickly, which is certainly disappointing.
More than likely, he bought a defective headset and needs to return it for a replacement that won’t have these annoying problems.
At the end of the day, the Srhythm Over Ear Wireless Headphones is the bomb because of the incredible sound quality, the powerful noise cancellation technology, the unique lightweight and foldable design, the 16 hours of playback, the quick charging battery, and the comfortable fit.
5. Audio-Technica ATH-M20x Headphones
- Advanced build quality and engineering
The Audio-Technica ATH-M20x Headphones are an admirable choice for those looking to experience studio quality sound. They are tuned perfectly for enhanced low-frequency performance; they consist of 40 mm drivers with unique earth magnets and aluminum coils, and other excellent features.
✔️ What we like: Created for studio mixing and tracking, advanced engineering and build quality
❌ What we don’t like: It’s difficult to hear audio and very little bass
Standout Features
- Robust construction and durable design
- Cutting-edge engineering
- Very affordable
- Impeccable sound isolation
- Circumaural design perfectly fits ears
The M20x headphones are a wired headset with a 10 foot hardwired cable and a 6.3 mm adapter. The company says that these headphones are tuned for enhanced low-frequency performance, so the sound is aggressive, the bass is powerful, and the audio is booming. And if you’re into tracking and mixing, you’ll definitely appreciate this headset.
The good thing is the sound quality is much better than expected. The bass is powerful and it really resonates within your eardrums. You can crank up the audio and slip into your own world while enjoying tracks from your favorite musicians and performers whether you like electronica, hip-hop, rock ‘n roll, smooth R&B, or any other musical genre for that matter.
A few people did have problems with their headsets. One person complained that they heard very little bass, which I find hard to believe since I thought the bass was booming because it was so powerful.
They obviously bought a broken headset that needs to be replaced. Another person felt the audio came in too low. Again, I never suffered from this problem so their speakers must’ve been on the fritz.
On the whole, Audio-Technica ATH-M20x Headphones are the best of their kind. They were designed with high quality engineering and advanced build that’s perfect for mixing and studio tracking.
The 40 mm drivers create a powerful sound, and they were specifically tuned to enhance the performance of low-frequency audio, which makes these extra special headphones as you’ll soon see.

The memory ear cups are wonderful. They are made with breathable proteins skin and soft sponges to deliver maximum comfort levels. And the professional sound quality, the 25 hours of playback, and the vibrant bass make these headphones a beautiful choice.
One reviewer felt that the audio was very low-frequency and said it created a muddy sound. This doesn’t seem to be the general consensus, so it’s possible they purchased damaged headphones. Otherwise there was very little negativity expressed toward these headphones.
By and large, the OneOdio Over Ear Headphones deliver great sound quality, 25 hours of battery life, comfort and style, and they were designed to simultaneously connect to a guitar and iPad to help enhance your musical prowess.

The 300 MAH battery is another excellent choice because it delivers a powerful punch and lasts for more than 8 hours of continuous play. On the other hand, you can also ignore the Bluetooth connection and plug it in and it comes with a 53 inch long audio cable. This way you can listen to it as long as you like without ever having to worry about losing power.
Speaking of the audio cable, one reviewer was upset because his audio cable frayed and then broke very quickly. It happens sometimes and audio cables need to be replaced. He may have damaged it himself or it could have been a defective wire.
In closing, the Baseman Wireless On Ear Headphones are excellent headphones because the ear pads are comfortable, the adjustable and foldable design makes them easy to carry, and the 40 mm driver delivers powerful bass, crisp high tones, and clear vocal audio.
A Guide to Choosing the Best Over Ear Headphones Under $100
Do you prefer to pick your own over ear headphones under $100?
It’s possible that you don’t know specifically what to look for as you search for high quality headphones. To help you better achieve your goals, we’d like to point out the most important areas to focus on when choosing headphones of this nature.
Consider the following:
Noise Cancellation Capabilities
In many instances, you’ll spend time in crowded places and you’ll find it hard to hear the audio coming through your headphones. This doesn’t have to be a major problem any longer. Many of today’s headphones come fully equipped with noise cancellation capabilities.
With noise cancellation features in tow, you’ll be able to block out the background noise in its entirety. You can then focus on your music, your audiobook, or your favorite podcast without any interruptions.
Bluetooth Connectivity
Great connectivity is also critical to providing an excellent listening experience. If the Bluetooth connectivity is shoddy at best, your audio will continuously cut in and cut out and provide a poor listening experience.
Instead of having a difficult time because of poor Bluetooth connectivity, you should focus on buying headphones with Bluetooth 5.0 technology. That’s the latest technology of this kind, although Bluetooth 4.0 tech is also more than viable. But 4.0 isn’t the latest Bluetooth connection at this point.
Long Battery Life
Ample battery life is also critical when purchasing the best over ear headphones under $100. The last thing you need is to run out of battery during a long commute, a difficult flight, or while you’re trying to listen to a meditation apps in the middle of the wilderness while you’re on a restful retreat. Poor battery life would ultimately ruin your experience and nobody wants that to ever happen to you.
So look for headphones with long battery life. Purchase headphones that last anywhere from 8 hours to 24 hours or more. This should provide abundant battery life for all of your day-to-day activities before you have the opportunity to charge them again.
Stereo Quality Sound
Finally, stereo sound quality will also improve your listening experience by leaps and bounds. The last thing you need is low audio, tinny treble and practically nonexistent bass. You want audio quality that will make you feel like you’re standing in the middle of a concert hall.
When you choose your next set of over ear headphones under $100, make sure other reviewers have said that the sound quality is incredible. This way you’ll know you’re buying headphones that will sound amazing and improve your listening experience overall.
