Researching the Most Durable Headphones
Performing research to find extremely durable headphones wasn’t the easiest thing to accomplish. I had to scour the Internet and read numerous reviews before I was satisfied with my top 10 choices. I had no intention of sharing subpar headphones with my readers, so you get to benefit from my dogged persistence.
During the research stage, I chose to focus on a few key areas to ensure the durability and strength of the headphones that I recommend. Some options are made of indestructible steel. Other choices are made of extremely tough plastic. And it was important for the headband to bend and feel comfortable even though these recommendations are made of the toughest material available today.
Besides durability, I also focused on sound quality, cables made of tough material regarding wired headphones, excellent warranties, deep bass, comfortable leather, Bluetooth capabilities, and I wanted to find the best durable headphones for kids as well.
Thankfully, I believe I accomplished my task and went above and beyond to ensure reader satisfaction. If any of the things I mentioned sound appealing to you, grab a cup of coffee and a bite to eat and get comfortable. You’ve got 10 important reviews to read over the next short while.
The Most Durable Headphones In2024
1. V-Moda Crossfade 2 Headphones – Best Overall
- V-MODA award-winning signature sound (50+ Editors’ Choice Awards) both in wireless mode via Bluetooth technology and wired mode for pure analog and zero latency essential for gamers and DJs
The V-Moda Crossfade 2 Headphones are the premium choice as far as durable headphones are concerned. They are made of steel that is flexible yet virtually indestructible, plus the leather ear pads are made of durable vegan material so it’s designed to last yet they didn’t harm any animals while creating this product which is a nice added bonus.
✔️ What we like: Deep bass, precise reverberations, and clear audio
❌ What we don’t like: Bluetooth connectivity difficulties and high price point
Standout Features
- Indestructible steel flex headband
- Bluetooth wireless connectivity
- Bendable and durable cable
- Premium limited warranty
- Over ear foldable design
You’re likely interested in durable headphones because you have a tendency to break them often. I’ve been down this road too many times in my life and I know how frustrating it can be. I’ll ride around on my mountain bike and accidentally knock the headphones off of my ears and onto the ground and run them over.
This can be very disheartening and it can get expensive after a while too. With the nearly indestructible steel headband, you can step on these headphones, kick them, or even stomp them and they will still remain intact.
The sound quality is even more exciting. They designed these metal headphones using lightweight components that produce high resolution audio, 40 kHz of sound, and amp technology to create state-of-the-art premier sound. You can use this headset as a wired device or wireless with 14 hours of battery life and 30 minutes of quick charging that’ll add four hours of additional charge.
Speaking of wireless, one reviewer complained because he had a difficult time adapting his headphones to other Bluetooth devices. He also felt the price was a little high in the $250-$300 range, but price point is all relative anyway. But as far as the Bluetooth issue goes, he appears to be the only reviewer with a real complaint. So take that with a grain of salt.
More than anything else, I believe that the V-Moda Crossfade 2 Headphones are the best overall durable headphones because of their awesome steel frame.
Combine that with the long battery life, the hybrid wireless and wired feature, the superior sound quality and all of the other bells and whistles and you have one remarkable product on your hands.

The V-Moda Crossfade 2 Codex Edition is an excellent choice for the best Bluetooth durable headphones on the market today. They deliver CD-quality wireless audio playback, have a lithium ion battery with 14 hours of continuous playtime, and they are available in black, white, and rose gold colors.
✔️ What we like: Iconic cliqfold hinge and intense durability
❌ What we don’t like: Poor noise cancellation and blown out audio driver
Standout Features
- Foldable and portable design
- 14 hours of battery life
- Powerful lithium-ion battery
- CD-quality wireless audio playback
- SBC Codex for universal compatibility
These headphones are an excellent choice for anyone who lives an active lifestyle. Whether you like to cycle, hike, work out, or spend time in the great outdoors, this is definitely a great choice of headphones for you. Why? The durability of these headphones is off the charts. They are made of steel, which means the headband is flexible but it doesn’t break. You can try to bend it and break it but it will hold together no matter how strong you happen to be.
The iconic cliqfold hinge is another unique design that so many customers seem to appreciate. They love it because you can fold the headphones over in a way that makes it a lot smaller than it appears. It’s also a great way to stuff it into the attractive exoskeleton case so you can easily take them with you wherever you go.
On a down note, one reviewer wasn’t happy with the lack of noise cancellation features. According to the product page, the headset is supposed to have passive noise isolation along with active noise cancelling features. While I’m sure this feature does exist, this one reviewer wasn’t very satisfied with the outcome. This doesn’t seem to be a big complaint from too many other reviewers though.
All in all, you’ll love the V-Moda Crossfade 2 Codex Edition because of the beautiful design, the easy portability, the comfortable memory foam ear cushions, and the steel frame which leads to intense and lasting durability.
These headphones are practically indestructible and their Bluetooth connectivity is the best-of-breed.

- Closed-back Circumaural Headphones with Collapsible Design
The V-Moda Crossfade LP2 Headphones is a wonderful choice for the best over ear headphones. Not only are they intensely durable, they come fully equipped with 50 mm dual diaphragm drivers, passive noise isolation, a Kevlar reinforced cable, and intense sound quality.
✔️ What we like: Easily eliminates background noise and strict sound consistency
❌ What we don’t like: Defective headset shocked a user
Standout Features
- Professional quality sound
- Designed to withstand wear and tear
- Ultra reinforced cable
- Flexible steel headband
- Ergosoft noise isolation cushions
Ergonomics is the name of the game when it comes to the LP2 headphones designed by V-Moda. Not only does this headset have a formfitting case, it was also designed with ergonomic foam cushions, which leads to an incredibly comfortable fit that molds directly over your ears. The close fit and comfortable cushions lead to natural noise isolation, which means these headphones are also great at blocking out background noises from your awareness.
The sound quality is unbelievable as you can imagine. Since these headphones do not require batteries, you don’t have to worry about your battery life running out ever. And the 50 mm dual diaphragm drivers create vivid sounds, vibrant bass, and high quality music at attractive and comfortable decibel levels.
One negative thing to mention is a former user and reviewer had a bad experience with a defective headset. He said that the broken headset shocked him. And all of the additional static and interference made the headphones virtually impossible to listen to and enjoy. In the same review, he also says that the headset was defective and once he returned them they worked properly for six months before the same problem started again.
With that said, the V-Moda Crossfade LP2 Headphones are an amazing headset because of their noise cancellation abilities, their trusted sound, the hexagon shaped design, the steel headband, the formfitting case, and the fact that these headphones are resistant to the elements including salt, humidity, ultraviolet rays, and water.

These durable earbuds are all about the music. Not only do they fit securely within your ear canals because of the three sizes of ear gels, they’ve also focused on providing the user with customizable equalizers and personalized profiles. If you’d like to create one profile with heavy bass, you can do so. If you like a more mellow profile, that’s available to create as well. Or you can design your profiles to deliver the perfect sound depending on your listening preferences.
Phone calls are also splendid to listen to with these earbuds in your ears. They use four microphones and digital signal processing to create crystal-clear phone calls that you can engage in no matter where you are. Even more important, the call quality is excellent and since these earbuds are compatible with the digital assistants from Google, Apple, and Amazon, you can make hands-free phone calls whenever you see fit.
One reviewer complained about poor volume control and connectivity issues. He said that he had a difficult time pairing his Bluetooth device to other compatible Bluetooth devices. And he also complained because the volume controls weren’t working up to their full capability and he wasn’t happy with either of these issues. Thankfully they don’t seem to be regular problems for all reviewers so he may have just purchased a faulty device.
At the end of the day, the Jabra Elite Bluetooth Earbuds are an incredible choice if you like long battery life, personalized sound, safety, and formfitting earbuds with amazing sound quality.
5. Brenthaven Rugged Kids Headphones – Best for Kids

❌ What we don’t like: Reviewers complained that they break easily
Standout Features
- Compatible with Chromebooks, Tablets, and iPads
- Durable ear pads
- 2 year guarantee
- 5 feet of durable cord
- Plug and play easy installation
These kid headphones from Brenthaven are a great choice for youngsters because it’s made with such a durable design. Kids have a tendency to drop things, trip over stuff, and ultimately squash things when they least expect it. These headphones are designed to withstand the small beatings that children will give them and continue to work even after receiving slight damage from youngsters.
Even the cord was designed with kids in mind. It’s 6 feet long and made of really tough material. So if kids decide to chew on the cord one day, it’s actually chew proof so they can chew on it to their hearts content without actually ripping the cord or damaging it in any way, which is absolutely necessary in a school environment. Otherwise teachers would have to replace their headsets often and that can get expensive.
Unfortunately, not every reviewer was excited about the durability of these headphones. Two reviewers said that they actually break easily, which is very negative since they were specifically designed to withstand potential damage from young children. Two negative reviews out of dozens of positive reviews shouldn’t steer you away from these headphones because most people were happy with their tough design.
Overall, I believe the Brenthaven Rugged Kids Headphones are an excellent choice because they’re compatible with every device imaginable, they have a twistable headband that doesn’t break, a flexible breakaway tip adapter, and durable ear pads that were designed to withstand punishment from little ones.

- Premium studio sound
- 1 year hassle-free warranty
These gorgeous wood headphones are the perfect choice for anyone looking to experience an all-natural genuine wood finish on their headset. Not only is it a sleek and modern design, the headphones are also powerful and create gorgeous acoustics, crisp sound, and deep and pounding bass. The audio clarity is crystal-clear, easy to understand, and perfect for music lovers, audiobook aficionados, and podcast listeners of all ages.
And let’s not forget about the durability of this handcrafted design. The natural wood finish is so sturdy and comfortable that you’ll have a difficult time breaking it if you intentionally tried to crack them in half. Besides the wood finish, they were designed with aluminum sturdy construction, natural wood ear cups, and pillow soft padded earphones for a simple yet effective fit.
Unfortunately one reviewer had a hard time with Bluetooth connectivity. Since these headphones are a wired or wireless hybrid, he tried to connect to his Bluetooth devices wirelessly and had a tough time making a connection. He also said that his headphones didn’t last very long and broke after a few months. So maybe he unfortunately purchased a defective device because other reviewers haven’t had these problems.
Truth be told, you’ll really appreciate the Symphonized Wood Headphones for so many reasons. But in particular, you’ll like the 1 year hassle-free warranty, the built-in microphone, the 3.5 mm audio jack, and the in-line remote control to play or pause music, answer or end calls, and more.
7. Artix Wired Headphones
The Artix Wired Headphones are the premier choice for children and teens. They are available in attractive and fun colors including pink, purple, and turquoise. Besides the gorgeous design, they are also lightweight, adjustable, foldable, and have a built-in microphone and controls.

Standout Features
- Foldable for easy portability
- Lightweight design for simple transport
- Built-in in-line microphone
- Universally compatible: Android, iPhone, and tablets
- Comfortable cushioned ear pads
Kids hate wearing uncomfortable headphones. They get frustrated by them and want to rip them off their heads because they feel like they are being smothered or they’re in pain. The cool thing about these headphones is the ear pads are so soft and cushiony that youngsters never complain about them being uncomfortable.
On the contrary, they always say that they feel good on their ears. So if you have a kid that hates wearing headphones, you should definitely give these a try and see how it goes.
The built-in microphone is also very exciting for youngsters. They can talk to their friends on Facetime, YouTube hangouts, or Facebook very easily with these headphones on. Or they can make hands-free phone calls, do their homework using dictation, or just about anything else they may need to do while using a headset.
Although these seem to be excellent headphones that are extremely durable, a few people did have concerns because they said theirs died out within a few months’ time. So definitely keep this in the back of your mind. It doesn’t seem to be like a worldwide problem for everyone, but it did happen to a few people so it’s something to consider.
Whether you know it or not, the Artix Wired Headphones really are an excellent bargain because they are affordable, easy to use, compatible with just about every electronic device, they’re lightweight and foldable, and they have a one-year satisfaction guarantee.
8. SENNHEISER Momentum 2.0 Wireless headphones

Headphone aficionados certainly appreciate the SENNHEISER Momentum 2.0 Wireless headphones because they are incredibly durable, they have noise cancellation features, their battery life is long, and they are made using sturdy and hard-wearing material.
✔️ What we like: Stainless steel headband and durable design
❌ What we don’t like: Customer support lacking
Standout Features
- Noise Gard hybrid noise cancellation
- 22-hour battery life
- 2 built-in microphones for noise reduction
- Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity
- Two-year warranty
First off, I think it’s important to touch upon the SENNHEISER Momentum 2.0 warranty, because it lasts for two years and it proves the company really believes in their products. They wouldn’t provide such a long-lasting warranty if their headphones constantly broke down. So, they have faith in their company and their ability to create long-lasting products, which is an awesome thing to realize.
Next, I’d like to talk about battery life. The battery life for this headset lasts for 22 hours. This means you can take it with you wherever you go for long stretches of time and still be able to hear audio coming from these headphones with crystal clarity after using them for nearly 24 hours. And it doesn’t take very long to charge the headphones either, which is a definite plus.
On another note, I also want to mention that a few customers said that their customer support was lacking. These individuals had to call them for one reason or another and their problems were met with deaf ears. In one case, customer support was experiencing high demands on their time, and the customer wasn’t able to get through to them for weeks.
Swinging back to the positive, there’s a lot to love about the SENNHEISER Momentum 2.0 wireless headphones that include incorporating the apt-X Bluetooth codec to receive CD-quality sound, the durable stainless-steel headband, the comfortable leather ear cushions, the foldable design for easy transporting, the multi-device connectivity, the long listening sessions, and much more.

The Sony Premium Noise Cancelling Headphones are in a class by themselves. They have wireless connectivity, noise isolation features, and you can still hear ambient background noise when needed.

❌ What we don’t like: Headband cracks easily and serious defects
Standout Features
- Hands-free calling
- Hard carrying case included
- Available in black, gray, and gold
- Aluminum coated LCB
- Hi-fi quality audio
Are you looking for high quality audio and durable headphones all rolled into one? Then look no further than these sensational headphones created by Sony. They have some of the best Bluetooth capabilities around, so they’ll easily connect to your favorite devices without any difficulty whatsoever. And that my friend is something to cheer about since many devices disconnect from Bluetooth very easily and it can get quite annoying.
The 20 hours of continuous playtime is also a nice added touch. All you have to do is charge your headphones for a few hours and you’ll have beautiful musical playback for the next 20 hours or more. Or if you prefer, you can use the headphones to make personal phone calls at work or home, listen to your favorite audiobooks and exciting authors, and so much more.
One reviewer wasn’t very happy with the quality of the headband. She said that the headband cracked very easily which seems hard to believe since these headphones are supposed to be very durable. But I’m not in denial of her experience because I’m sure it really did happen. I hope she wasn’t abusing them too much because they may seem indestructible, but they surely aren’t as you can imagine.
When all is said and done, the Sony Premium Noise Cancelling Headphones are a wonderful choice for music lovers of every age. They come powerfully packed with a 40 mm high sensitivity driver, Hi-Res audio playback, a built-in rechargeable battery with 20 hours of playtime, and easy to use intuitive controls.
10. Sony MDR7506 Headphones
- Neodymium magnets and 40 millimeter drivers for powerful, detailed sound.Specific uses for product : Professional audio system,Home audio system
The Sony MDR7506 Headphones rank incredibly highly because they are professional grade large headphones that are quite comfortable and durable. They contain neo-daimyo magnets, 40 mm drivers, and a 9.8 foot cord to deliver an easy listening experience.
✔️ What we like: Comfortable closed ear design, external noise reduction
❌ What we don’t like: Muddled audio and easily breakable
Standout Features
- Comfortable closed ear design
- Eliminates/reduces external noises
- Foldable for easy storage
- Wired 9.8 foot durable cord
- Gold plated audio jack
You’ll love these headphones from Sony because they were designed with easy portability and comfort in mind. The closed ear design means the ear pads fit snugly to your ears, so they can reduce or even eliminate external noises from your awareness. It’s almost like noise cancellation technology without actually adding the tech to the headphones. It’s just designed to keep noises out and keep beautiful listening experiences in.
They are wireless headphones so you don’t have to worry about any Bluetooth connectivity issues. They come fully equipped with an accordion-like cord that’s 9.8 feet long, has a gold audio jack, and perhaps stretches out an additional 5 to 10 feet. So you can basically take these headphones and walk with them without having to worry about them getting unplugged from the audio device that you’re using.
It’s very difficult to please everyone and a few reviewers had a couple of negative things to say about these headphones. One person said that after using the headphones for a while, the audio started to crap out and the listening experience became muddled. Obviously they weren’t very happy with the overall performance. Another reviewer said that the headphones broke easily. They didn’t go into great detail, but I have to assume that they snapped in half. Hopefully they weren’t abusing the headphones because they are made of plastic and aluminum and they aren’t designed to last forever.
As you can imagine, the Sony MDR7506 Headphones come highly recommended. They are lightweight, unobtrusive, and made with the highest quality care and engineering. They are comfortable to wear, have 40 mm drivers, neo-daimyo magnets, and their performance greatly exceeds all expectations.
Combine this with the additional carrying bag and you have amazing headphones that you’ll be glad to take with you wherever you go.
A Guide to Choosing the Most Durable Headphones
Were you unimpressed with my recommendations?
It happens from time to time and I do not hold grudges for any reason. You may have your own reasons why you don’t like any of the choices I mentioned above. But truthfully, every recommendation I mentioned is considered one of the most durable headphones currently available today.
Are you hoping to find your own headphones soon?
If you’re looking for durable headphones, but also want other excellent features as well, you’ll need to focus your search in a number of critical areas. We’ll cover these areas and more below to help you complete your search for the best headphones that were built to last.
While we didn’t mention any above there are some excellent bone conduction headphones on the market now that are becoming more and more popular. I highly recommend doing some research on those as an option.
Durable Construction
This likely seems like a no-brainer but it definitely bears repeating. You need to find headphones that were created precisely to take a butt kicking. This is especially true if you plan on giving them to young children who aren’t very careful. Or they’ll come in handy if you’re an adult that works in a high stress and active environment. Or even more important, if you like sports and other outdoor activities you could easily break your headphones so you’ll need something durable and strong.
Overall, you should look for headphones made with tough plastic, aluminum coating, or they should be crafted from flexible steel. If you can find headphones made from these high quality materials then you’ve definitely found strong and heavy-duty headphones that can handle rugged situations of all types.
Earpad Comfort
Not only do you want strong headphones, but they also need to be comfortable as well. Many of the latest headphones are beginning to use soft memory foam or protein ear pads that are incredibly comfortable. They cover up your entire ears and act as noise cancellation devices as well. But most of all, they should feel like you’ve covered your ears in a comfortable pillow or a soft and fluffy cloud.
Stereo Quality Sound
What’s the point in buying new headphones if they have poor sound quality? That would be a complete waste of money in my opinion. Make sure every pair of headphones you consider has excellent frequency response, the latest 40 mm drivers, and all of the latest high resolution audio technology to improve your overall listening experience.
Believe it or not, other reviewers will let you know about their experiences as well. They will tell you if they thought the audio was clear, loud enough, and they’ll tell you if it was muddled, tinny, or didn’t have enough bass too.
Prevent Needless Replacements With Durable Headphones
Before we go, I’d like to thank you for reading this review all away till the end. I really appreciate that you put your faith and trust in my recommendations. This does not go unnoticed.
With that said, we should take a look at a brief recap. When choosing durable headphones, you should expect the following:
- Excellent Bluetooth connectivity
- Durable design made with steel, hard plastic, or aluminum
- Durable and bendable cords for wired devices
- Comfortable memory foam ear pads
- Stereo quality sound
Do your headphones possess these great qualities?
If they do then you should feel comfortable making your purchase. If not, you should consider choosing a better and more effective option.
