Spending your day scouring the net and searching for Dolby Atmos headphones might not sound like your idea of a good time!

Heck, most people would agree with you! But not me. I’m kind of an odd duck that way. I love researching and writing about products that interest me, as you can undoubtedly tell from this lengthy review.

My review process is simple to understand on the surface, but it certainly contains many moving parts and areas of focus. In this instance, I’d say the biggest and most important area to focus on is surround sound capabilities.

You want a pair of headphones that convey the ultimate surround sound experience. You want the audio to flow through you like you’re a part of the movie, TV show, or video game you enjoy for entertainment purposes.

So the headphones shared today all possess awesome surround sound capabilities and they kick ass in that regard.

But I also look for other things that are just as important. Some other areas I focus my reviews on include:

  • Battery life
  • Device connectivity
  • Bluetooth tech
  • Compatibility
  • Wired/wireless
  • And more

The Best Dolby Atmos Headphones in 2024

1. Sony MDR-HW700DS Wireless Headphone – Best Overall

The Sony MDR-HW700DS Wireless Headphone is the overall favorite because it has 12 hours of battery life with a built-in lithium ion rechargeable battery.

✔️ What we like: HDMI and stereo pin jack connectivity

❌ What we don’t like: Difficulty connecting to certain TVs

Standout Features

  • Wired device
  • Trusted name brand
  • Long battery life

The MDR-HW700DS headphones from Sony are my favorite choice because they provide a surround sound experience with Dolby Atmos quality, making it easy to enjoy my favorite TV shows and movies daily.

I love kicking back and watching movies with intense soundtracks like Star Wars, Braveheart, Indiana Jones, or any other action movie with heart-pounding music that gets your blood pumping and your body moving. Your mind is racing all at the same time. You get to enjoy intense, high-quality audio and more with these headphones.

Besides the penetrating and incredible sound, these headphones are wired and wireless, depending on how you like to connect to your favorite devices. They have a built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery that lasts 12 hours per charge, which is a long time for a powerful headset like this one.

Reviewers always seem to have complaints, so it shouldn’t surprise you to learn that one reviewer was upset because he couldn’t get it to connect to his LG TV. Another reviewer disliked these headphones because they don’t have a built-in microphone.

One flaw is the connectivity, but it happens occasionally. The lack of a built-in microphone shouldn’t be an issue because Sony never claimed to have one in the first place.

Overall, I really appreciate the Sony MDR-HW700DS Wireless Headphone because of its awesome Dolby Atmos sound quality, the wireless and wired capabilities, the long battery life, and all the other exciting bells and whistles.

2. CORSAIR HS80 Gaming Headset – Best for PC

CORSAIR HS80 RGB WIRELESS Multiplatform Gaming Headset - Dolby Atmos - Lightweight Comfort Design -...
  • Live the Game: The HS80 RGB WIRELESS merges iconic CORSAIR design, superb audio quality, industry-leading wireless technology, and durable build quality.

The CORSAIR HS80 RGB WIRELESS Gaming Headset is undeniably a top-notch choice for delivering an immersive gaming experience with Dolby Atmos precision.

✔️ What we like: Broadcast-quality microphone and Customization with iCUE

❌ What we don’t like: Price and Bluetooth connectivity

Standout Features

  • Dolby Atmos Immersion
  • Hyper-Fast SLIPSTREAM WIRELESS
  • Customization with iCUE

The HS80 RGB WIRELESS’s specially tuned 50mm neodymium audio drivers are revolutionary. You will enjoy an audio experience unlike any other thanks to their extraordinarily detailed 24-bit sound. This headset brings every sound to life, whether the quiet rustle of foliage or the resounding roar of an explosion.

The Dolby Atmos functionality on this headset is a game-changer for PC gamers looking for the highest level of immersion. It positions the game’s noises in three dimensions around you, enabling you to respond more quickly and precisely.

You’ll enjoy very low latency, high-quality audio with CORSAIR’s Hyper-Fast SLIPSTREAM WIRELESS technology. You’ll be able to wirelessly hear every shot, stride, and yell as it happens without having to worry about lag or lost connections.

This headset has a genuinely outstanding omnidirectional microphone. The flip-up mute mechanism and LED silent indication make it simple to regulate your speech during battle.

Marathon gaming sessions are no issue with the HS80. The floating headband and memory foam earpads offer stress-free comfort.

The durable design and use of aluminum strengthen the HS80 RGB WIRELESS’s long-lasting construction. It will be able to handle the demands of gaming for many years to come.

Although it has many premium features, some players may find the cost exorbitant. A few customers have also mentioned sporadic Bluetooth connectivity troubles, which might be annoying.

However, it’s important to note that these drawbacks are outweighed by the CORSAIR’s numerous advantages for those seeking a top-tier gaming experience.

149 Reviews
1MORE VR Gaming Over-Ear Headset with Mic, Super Bass 7.1 Stereo Surround Sound, Dual Mic Noise...
  • 7.1 stereo surround sound with super bass vr shock wave, exceptional audio fidelity to hear more and react faster

The 1MORE Gaming Headphones are the best for gaming because of the 7.1 stereo surround sound and the PC, P4, Xbox One, and smartphone connectivity.

✔️ What we like: Easily connects to all major gaming consoles and devices

❌ What we don’t like: Sensitive to harsh usage

Standout Features

  • Lightweight and durable design
  • Environmental noise cancelling
  • Super bass VR shock wave

It’s always easy to recommend gaming headphones from 1MORE because they create such high-quality products. In particular, I like these gaming headphones because they connect to all of my favorite gaming consoles and devices, like my PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and they even connect to my smartphone, which is excellent.

The quality is so good because it uses 7.1 channel surround sound and Dolby Atmos audio for a fantastic listening experience. It seems like the audio surrounds you every step of the way. It almost feels like you’re in the middle of the game because of explosions around you, crazy chases, and races happening in real-time, making the gaming experience truly incredible.

The product’s relatively limited connectivity options, primarily through wired connections, may disappoint those looking for more versatile wireless alternatives.

At the end of the day, I feel confident recommending the 1MORE Gaming Headphones because of their lightweight, durable, and comfortable design, the vivid LED display, and the 7.1 channel surround sound Dolby Atmos preferred audio and noise cancellation technology.

4. Logitech G435 LIGHTSPEED Headset – Best Affordable Option

Sale

The Logitech G435 LIGHTSPEED Headset is the most affordable top choice because they deliver Dolby Atmos surround sound from dual subwoofers for fierce gaming sounds.

✔️ What we like: Gaming headphones that connect to all major audio devices

❌ What we don’t like: No Active Noise Cancellation, and Bluetooth audio can still introduce slight latency compared to wired connections

Standout Features

  • Dolby Atmos Compatibility
  • Breathable Earcups
  • Memory Foam Padding

The 40mm drivers in the G435 produce painstakingly balanced, high-fidelity sound. As a result, your games, movies, or music will thoroughly immerse you thanks to their crisp soundscapes and powerful bass. The Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos combination offers a natural surround sound experience, taking your game to a new level.

Thanks to its support for LIGHTSPEED wireless and low-latency Bluetooth communication, you may freely switch between your PC, smartphone, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and other devices. These headphones will keep you comfortable no matter where you game or what you do.

An additional microphone arm is unnecessary since the built-in twin beamforming microphones produce more outstanding sound quality. With background noise substantially controlled, you can communicate with your colleagues loudly and clearly.

The G435 offers up to 18 hours of battery life, so you can play games, communicate with friends, or listen to music without being disturbed. You won’t continuously be concerned about recharging during a critical game session.

The G435 was created with sustainability in mind, and it includes packaging that has been FSC-certified and parts produced from recycled plastic. With an optional max volume limiter to save your hearing with lengthy usage, it’s also safer for your ears.

5. Plantronics RIG 800LX Headset

The Plantronics RIG 800LX Headset is our overall favorite Xbox One headset recommendation because of the long battery life and lag free wireless audio.

✔️ What we like: Wireless performance and 24 hours of battery life

❌ What we don’t like: Limited versatility

Standout Features

  • Xbox One compatible
  • 40 mm drivers
  • Large noise isolating ear cups

There are so many great things about the RIG 800LX headphones that it’s hard to track them all. I appreciate the flexible, durable, and lightweight headset because I tend to get pumped up while playing video games, and I knock them off my head or, throw them to the ground, or potentially damage them even worse than that. 🙂

So I need headsets that will withstand my excitement and rage when video games drive me bananas, and these headphones definitely fit the bill.

Plus, the headphones are comfortable because they’re self-adjusting and stable. The 24 hours of lag-free wireless audio is a nice feature because I play video games for 12 to 16 hours of sessions. As long as I have a fully charged headset, I know it will last the entire time before I plug it in and set it again.

It adds a step for customers who wish to use this function, making it less fluid than integrated Dolby Atmos compatibility present in some other headsets. Dolby Atmos activation needs a separate purchased ticket.

It’s my pleasure to recommend the Plantronics RIG 800LX Headset for Xbox One users because of the Dolby Atmos stereo surround sound, the master volume controls, the comfortable headband, the noise isolation, the built-in microphone, and so many other wonderful features.

6. RIG 400LX 3D Gaming Headset

RIG 400LX 3D Audio Gaming Headset for Xbox One with Dolby Atmos and LX1 Adapter
  • DOLBY ATMOS for Headphones AUDIO: Xbox One headset with Dolby Atmos for Headphones is equipped with premium Dolby Atmos Audio that pulls you into the game with moving audio that and sweeps all around...

The RIG 400LX 3D headset is the ultimate in quality and craftsmanship. It delivers Dolby Atmos surround sound, has simple controls, and carries high intensity sound.

✔️ What we like: Superior sound quality and comfortable design

❌ What we don’t like: Microphone broken after one month

Standout Features

  • Compatible with multiple consoles
  • Lightweight and comfortable design
  • 40 mm high-sensitivity drivers

The main reason I appreciate the 400LX gaming headset from RIG is its ability to use it on multiple platforms. I have an Xbox that I enjoy gaming on often, and I use it quite a bit. I also like to game on my PS4; this headset plugs directly into the controller.

It also connects to my PC, mobile phone, and laptop because the connection is a 3.5 mm cable, which is universal for many devices.

Next, comfort is critically essential. And with this headset, you feel comfort in spades. Why? It’s lightweight, very flexible, yet ultimately durable. So, it was designed to last without feeling overly heavy on your head. Therefore, you can wear it for many hours without discomfort because it isn’t substantial enough to create unnecessary pressure.

One issue I discovered is a previous customer said the sound quality of the speakers is awesome, but said the mic left a lot to be desired.

How so? At first, she thought the microphone was terrific, but after a month, it stopped working. It becomes impossible to communicate with your friends when your mic is broken. However, this doesn’t seem to be a regular occurrence across the board.

All in all, I like this RIG 400LX 3D headset an excellent deal for many reasons that include Dolby Atmos sound quality, its simple controls, its lightweight and comfortable design, and the fact that it’s compatible with numerous gaming consoles, PCs, tablets, and laptops as well.

7. Bose QuietComfort 35 II

Sale
Bose QuietComfort 35 II Wireless Bluetooth Headphones, Noise-Cancelling, with Alexa Voice Control -...
  • Three levels of world-class noise cancellation for better listening experience in any environment

The Bose QuietComfort 35 II headphones are a next level option because of their world-class noise cancellation and Alexa enabled capabilities.

✔️ What we like: Easy Bluetooth connectivity

❌ What we don’t like: Firmware update ruined noise cancellation feature

Standout Features

  • Balanced audio performance
  • Noise-rejecting dual microphone system
  • 12-inch USB charging cable

Like most people, you’re looking for headphones with Dolby Atmos capabilities because you’re interested in experiencing stereo sound from the comfort of your own headphones. These headphones deliver this stereo sound in spades and other great features you’ll truly appreciate.

As an example, one of the best features is the noise cancellation technology. Not only do you get to hear stereo surround audio pumping through your eardrums, you’re also going to avoid all of the background noise that could potentially disturb your experience.

This noise-cancelling tech will successfully filter out all background noise so you can focus on the audio from your videogame, your favorite movie or TV show, or any other potential listening experience.

On a down note, one reviewer loved these headphones when he first got them. But then out of nowhere, Google Assist initiated a firmware update without his consent. After the update, the headphones never worked the same again.

He said the ANC technology became noticeably worse and he could suddenly hear all kinds of background noises that he didn’t hear initially because the noise cancellation tech no longer worked correctly. What a disappointment! But this doesn’t seem to be an issue for everyone. In fact, only one reviewer seems to have had this problem.

It’s my honor to recommend the Bose QuietComfort 35 II headphones because of the incredible stereo sound, the comfortable design, the easy to use touch controls, and the very convenient Alexa voice control features.

A Guide to Choosing Dolby Atmos Headphones

man wearing top quality dolby headphones

How do you feel about my recommendations? Does anything tickle your fancy? Or did I somehow miss the mark?

If you aren’t happy with my picks, you may want to look for suitable Dolby Atmos headphones. I fully support your decision and I’m willing to help you along on your journey as well.

Believe it or not, you must focus on certain categories to find the right Dolby Atmos headphones. I will tell you a little bit about the areas to focus on below besides stereo surround sound capabilities. That’s already a given since you’re researching Dolby Atmos headphones in the first place.

YouTube video

Comfortable Materials & Ergonomic Design

Have you considered the material that the headphones are made with? What about an ergonomic design? If you’re anything like me and many people reading my reviews, you’ll tend to wear headphones for many hours in a row without taking a break. If this is the case, you’ll want comfortable and ergonomic headphones so they’ll sit on top of your head all day and night without disturbing you or causing unwanted pain or discomfort.

YouTube video

Battery Longevity

Although this isn’t a problem for every set of headphones because some will be wired, if you choose wireless gaming or Dolby Atmos headphones, you should only buy the ones with a long battery life.

Why? The answer should be very obvious but if you need me to spell it out for you I will. You’ll likely use these for many hours at a time. If the battery is going to run out in four hours, you’ll have to take a break and recharge them once or twice during the same session. This is irritating and unnecessary since many lithium-ion batteries last anywhere from 24 to 30 hours or more.

Noise Cancelling Technology

If you’re anything like me, you absolutely despise when background noise bleeds into your awareness while wearing headphones. You want to focus on the movie, the music, or the videogame and nothing more.

When you hear people talking in the background, or ambulance sirens blaring in the background when they drive past your house, or the noisy neighbor upstairs constantly stomping around during the day, you’re going to get mad. So find headphones with noise cancelling tech that blocks out these noises so they never interrupt your listening session again.
