Researching Wireless Workout Headphones
Digging through search engine results, online retailer listings, blogs, and other sources of information can get tedious and tiring. But if you’re trying to get an awesome pair of wireless workout headphones, this is typically what needs to get done.
Instead of forcing you to perform this detailed and varied research, I took it upon myself to share this information with the world. I have examined countless headphones at this point and I know exactly what to look for when seeking a high quality headset.
For starters, when working out you should definitely look for wireless headphones that were specifically designed to handle the twists and turns of playing sports. You’ll want something that’s lightweight but also durable and heavy-duty. You’ll want headphones that have a solid Bluetooth connection so it won’t constantly disconnect while you’re enjoying your favorite physical activity.
You’ll also want to find headphones that have long battery life, sweatproof and waterproof capabilities, and they have to fit your ears comfortably otherwise they’ll hurt and they’ll likely never stay in place.
More and more people are buying bone conduction headphones and particularly active sports people. If that sounds like you, it might be worth taking a look at the best bone conduction headphones available on the market.
So during this review, I focused on all of these areas along with sound quality, noise cancelling capabilities, built-in microphones, and other important features as well. Continue reading to discover exactly what I learned about my top 10 favorites.

The Best Wireless Workout Headphones
1. Bose SoundSport Free Wireless Earbuds – Best Overall
The Bose SoundSport Free Wireless Earbuds are an exciting choice for many athletes far and wide. They are true wireless headphones that provide complete freedom of movement, clear sound, and the charging time only takes two hours, which makes this an excellent choice.
✔️ What we like: Weather and sweat resistant, 15 hours total playtime
❌ What we don’t like: Difficulties connecting and cuts in and out
- Integrated dual microphone array
- Complete Bluetooth support and connectivity
- Audio video sync firmware updates
- Find My Buds feature
- small, medium, and large sport tips
The reason I chose these as the best overall wireless workout headphones is the overall design. They were created to fit comfortably within your ear, and they also have small, medium, and large sport ear tips to perfectly conform to the inside of your ear canal.
This means these earbuds are never going to fall out whether you’re going for a quick run, a game of five on five on the basketball court, or when you’re playing soccer for the next five hours straight and intend to do a lot of heavy running.
Oftentimes earbuds of this nature are very uncomfortable after a while, but that’s not true with this great option from Bose. Even though they fit securely within your ear canal, they are designed with the right type of material to make sure they are absolutely comfortable at all times. And they make them easy to track down if you have a tendency to lose them. The Bose Connect App has a Find My Buds feature that will hunt them down for you.
To play devil’s advocate for a moment, one reviewer said he had a tough time keeping his earbuds connected to his Surface Pro tablet. He said the audio would continue to cut in and out and it made it very difficult to listen to the videos he was watching while he went out for his morning run.
When all’s said and done, the Bose SoundSport Free Wireless Earbuds are a step above the rest because of the excellent portable charging case, the truly wireless capabilities, the three sizes of ear tips, the remarkable Bluetooth connectivity, and the 15 hours of total playback time.
2. Axloie Sport Wireless Earbuds – Best Under $50
The Axloie Sport Wireless Earbuds are an admirable choice for anyone looking for great headphones selling for less than $50. These stereo earphones come fully equipped with a charging case, IPX7 waterproof capabilities, 35 hours of playtime, and they deliver premium stereo sound.
✔️ What we like: Extremely stable Bluetooth 5.0 connection, high performance hi-fi stereo
❌ What we don’t like: Low volume and difficulty maintaining battery charge
- Upgraded ear hook (perfect for sports)
- 1 year warranty
- 35 hours of playtime
- Fully loaded charging case
- Controls operate through one button
These headphones are a great choice if you’re looking to purchase high quality headphones at an affordable price. And for sports enthusiasts, this is especially true because they are jam packed with CVC noise cancelling capabilities and the headphones are designed to stay firmly on your head at all times, even when you’re participating in fast-paced activities like when you’re legging out a fly ball in centerfield or chasing down a soccer ball to score the winning goal.
They are designed with maximum comfort in mind because they were created with an ergonomic shape and there is a hook that straps directly around your earlobe to prevent them from falling off when you’re jumping around, moving quickly, or performing other shaky feats that would typically knock them out of your ears. The material is very comfortable and skin friendly, so the earbuds will feel soft and unshakable inside of your ear canals.
One Debbie Downer reviewer had a couple of negative things to say about these otherwise excellent Bluetooth wireless headphones. She had a problem keeping her battery charged, which I can certainly understand is incredibly frustrating.
Especially if you plan on going out for a long jog, a 10 mile hike, or you plan on playing pickup basketball games all day long and you want music to power you through. She also said that the volume came in really low, which isn’t the greatest especially if you’re in a crowded place.
Overall, I highly recommend the Axloie Sport Wireless Earbuds because of the long battery life, the one button easy controls, the high-quality stereo performance, the impeccable Bluetooth connectivity, and the upgraded design for sports makes these earbuds an exceptional catch.
3. JLab Flex Sport Headphones – Best Sounding
The JLab Flex Sport Headphones are the ideal choice for sports enthusiasts far and wide. The ear pads are designed with moisture wicking material, the headphones have 20 hours of battery life, and they were made with a custom sport fit using adjustable tension headbands.
✔️ What we like: Comfortable fit and premium sound quality
❌ What we don’t like: Ear cups too small and low volume
- Flexfit and Firmfit tension bands
- comfortable headband pad
- USB type-C charging cable
- Stereo sound
- 24 month warranty
Many sports lovers usually stick to earbuds because over the ear and on-ear headphones have a tendency to slip off while working out, lifting weights, running, or participating in your favorite sport of choice. But that’s a thing of the past with the Flex headphones from JLab.
Along with your purchase, they provide two effective tension bands called Flexfit and Firmfit. Depending on your preference, you could add one of these tension bands to the headphones to make them stay firmly in place while you enjoy your favorite sports and outdoor activities. They aren’t going to fall off anymore because these tension bands will hold them firmly and securely in place.
The Bluetooth connectivity is great because it will remain connected to your Bluetooth device even if you’re 30 feet away. And the total charging time lasts for 20 hours, so you can basically keep them on while listening to music or your favorite talk radio shows all day long without having to worry about the battery going dead.
A few reviewers had negative things to say as you can expect from just about any product of this type. One person felt that the volume was too low and they had a difficult time hearing the audio which certainly deserves mentioning.
This only seems to be a problem for this one person though so it doesn’t seem universal. Another reviewer felt that the ear cups were too small. Again, maybe they had extra-large ears because no one else seems to have this same or similar complaint.
At the end of the day, the JLab Flex Sport Headphones are a wonderful choice because of the 20 hours of playtime, the comfortable and adjustable fit, and the high-quality sound pumping through your speakers.
4. Otium Sports Bluetooth Headphones – Best Budget Option
The Otium Sports Bluetooth Headphones are a great choice for the best budget headphones. Not only are they low priced below $25, many reviewers and online retailers also consider them an excellent choice because of their quality, state-of-the-art design, and superb sound.
✔️ What we like: Long battery life and easy to use controls
❌ What we don’t like: Charge doesn’t last very long and left earbud cut out
- 8 hours of continuous playtime
- Bluetooth 4.1+ EDR
- Comfortable ear hooks for sports
- Stay in ear technology
- IPX7 waterproof rating
The greatest thing about these earbuds is the superior sound quality. There’s nothing more annoying than going for a 10 mile run, when all the while your wireless earbuds are cutting in and out because of bad Bluetooth connectivity. Although one reviewer complained about this problem, ultimately the bulk of the people using these earbuds have had excellent connectivity experiences overall.
You also tend to build up a sweat while running or playing hard on the basketball court, the baseball field, or the football field. Or any other field for that matter. And building up a sweat means your earbuds are going to get soaked and waterlogged.
Will they be able to withstand the sweat -soaked drenching? These earbuds can handle the sweat without a problem because they have an IPX7 waterproof rating, which means they are covered with a hydrophobic nano-coating and the sweat and rainwater glides right off of them.
Another interesting feature is the 8 hours of battery life. For the most part, previous users seem to have no trouble with their earbuds keeping their charge. But one reviewer said that he was having a difficult time keeping his battery charged after a couple of hours.
He probably had a defective battery that needed to be replaced. Otherwise most users were happy with the 8 hours of battery life and the quick charging capabilities. The indicator light will tell you when the earbuds need to be charged again.
All things considered, I feel the Otium Sports Bluetooth Headphones are a phenomenal choice for a number of reasons. They have great battery life, Bluetooth 4.1+ EDR stereo sound, superb bass, crystal-clear volume, and they were designed to remain firmly within your ear canals even while playing very active sports.
5. TBI Pro Sport Wireless Earphones
The TBI Pro Sport Wireless Earphones are a first-rate recommendation because of their many wonderful features. They deliver really long battery life, stereo balanced bass, clear treble, they are waterproof, and they even have Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.
✔️ What we like: Ear plugs are soft, customizable, and stay firm while exercising
❌ What we don’t like: Battery life discrepancy between online ad and packaging
- 12 hours of battery life
- CVC 6.0 noise reduction technology
- Lightweight wireless design
- IPX7 waterproof rating
- Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity
So many people tend to gravitate toward these sport wireless earphones because they are lightweight, ergonomically designed, and comfortable so they fit perfectly in your ears while working out. You’ll never have to worry about them popping out and falling on the floor while running, skipping, or jumping because of the hooks that securely fit right over your ears.
Even better, the battery life lasts for 12 hours on a single charge. You can charge the headset for two hours and get 12 hours of additional playtime. Or that’s what we were led to believe. One reviewer said that when you look at the packaging and compare it to their online advertisement, there’s a discrepancy that he wanted to point out.
The packaging says that the battery life lasts for 8 hours and the online advertisement and order page says that the battery life lasts for 12 hours. I haven’t read any other complaints regarding the battery life so they may have just made a mistake while creating the packaging.
Besides the long battery life, these earbuds also have a stable Bluetooth 5.0 connection using the state-of-the-art QCC 3003 chipset. This means the connection is steady; it doesn’t consume a lot of power, and makes it possible to stream music directly over the earphones without any difficulty whatsoever.
More than anything else, I like the TBI Pro Sport Wireless Earphones because the audio is clear, the bass is deep, the battery lasts between 8 to 12 hours continuously, the Bluetooth 5.0 connection is very stable, and the earbuds were designed to stay firmly in place while you perform your favorite exercises and sports related activities to the best of your ability.
6. Aznze PowerPro Sport Wireless Earbuds
The Aznze PowerPro Sport Wireless Earbuds make it easy to keep everything under control with their multifunctional button. It automatically powers the earbuds on and off, it has a pause/play feature, call answering, speakerphone, voice assistant, and call rejection built right in.
✔️ What we like: Bluetooth 5.0 connection, wireless HD stereo sound
❌ What we don’t like: No user’s manual and didn’t fit into ear canals
- IPX7 waterproof rating
- 7 hours of playtime
- Full battery charge in 1 hour
- Ergonomic design
- Soft silicone ear hooks
The one button control really stands out and makes these earbuds extra special. As mentioned above, the multifunctional button does just about everything along with accessing the voice assistant, call waiting, call rejection, and much more. Combine this with the excellent ergonomic fit and soft silicone ear hooks and you have a wireless set of earbuds that really grabs your attention.
You may find it interesting to know that these waterproof and sweatproof earbuds were designed in the United States of America. They were created by some of the leading sound engineers in the country. The powerful battery, the advanced music technology, and the Bluetooth capabilities all combine to create a pleasurable listening experience.
More importantly, the silicone ear hooks will stay firmly in place and keep the earbuds in your ears whether you’re dancing, jogging in the rain, or running full speed during a sprint. These earbuds will never fall out because of their special ear hook design.
One reviewer wasn’t happy because he said the earbuds didn’t fit properly in his ear canals and he was also mad that it didn’t come with a user’s manual. You can likely find the user’s manual online. As far as the poor fit goes, there really isn’t anything I can do about it. He’s just unlucky I guess.
All things considered, Aznze PowerPro Sport Wireless Earbuds are a fantastic choice because of the advanced music technology, the powerful Bluetooth connectivity, the secure and comfortable fit that’s perfect for sports, and the long battery life and quick charging capabilities.
7. TBI Pro PowerPro Bluetooth Headphones
The TBI Pro PowerPro Bluetooth Headphones receive high marks for their 12 hours of battery life, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, over the ear hooks to keep them in place while playing sports, and their waterproof and sweatproof IPX7 rating.
✔️ What we like: Stable Bluetooth connection, comfortable fit, and ergonomic design
❌ What we don’t like: Poor sound quality and difficulty pairing
- HD stereo sound
- 12 hours of battery life
- Ergonomic comfortable design
- Carefully calibrated ear hook shape
- Noise cancellation feature
These wireless workout headphones have really impressed me and many other reviewers online as well. They were specifically designed for those who like to work out and break a sweat. They are sweatproof and waterproof; they have over the ear hooks to keep them firmly in place while exercising and they have 12 hours of battery life and the Bluetooth range extends for 100 feet which is truly extraordinary.
They’re also really comfortable to wear while participating in your favorite sports or working out which is also a huge added bonus. Sometimes earbuds can be downright uncomfortable as you undoubtedly know. But these were designed with soft silicone ear hooks that feel very comfortable around the backs of your ears. And the ear tips were calibrated to fit into your ear canal without causing pain or fatigue.
From a negative standpoint, one reviewer said that the Bluetooth connection wasn’t strong with his device. He said it would pair and then un-pair regularly to the point that it was exceedingly frustrating to use the earbuds.
Another reviewer said that the sound quality was poor and that the earbuds didn’t work very well. Generally speaking, most people seem to be happy with the sound quality and I only read the one complaint about Bluetooth connectivity, so this doesn’t seem to be the norm.
I can tell you with the utmost confidence that the TBI Pro PowerPro Bluetooth Headphones are great because of the built-in microphone, the noise cancelling feature, the water and sweatproof design, the soft silicone material, and all of the other rousing things that we already talked about above.
8. TREBLAB Z2 Workout Headphones
The TREBLAB Z2 Workout Headphones are ideal for those who like playing sports, running, or working out at the gym. They have powerful active noise cancellation technology, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, and long battery life.
✔️ What we like: Comfortable fit and built-in microphone
❌ What we don’t like: Breaks quickly and no sweat resistance
- Available voice assistant
- CVC 6.0 built-in microphone
- Compatible with Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant
- Lightweight and comfortable
- 35 hours playback time
You’ll love these headphones because they are very comfortable to wear, they are cozy and soft while covering up your ears, and they are designed to conform to your head so they don’t fall off while working out.
The battery life is pretty great as well. You can plug them in and charge them for three hours and get many hours of extra battery life. But if you plug them in for a full charge, the battery life will last for as many as 35 hours of continuously playing your favorite music, making phone calls, or listening to audiobooks or podcasts.
One reviewer wasn’t satisfied with his purchase by any means. He bought these headphones and they broke very quickly. After being contacted by the manufacturer about a replacement, they sent him his new headphones and both ear pads were broken and completely useless. Another person complained that the headphones weren’t sweat resistant.
Taking everything into account, the TREBLAB Z2 Workout Headphones had a couple of hiccups but ultimately they are a great choice. They are comfortable, have long battery life, are perfect for wearing while you’re playing sports or exercising, and the active noise cancellation technology will block out any background noises from entering your awareness.
9. Adidas RPT-01 Sport Headphones
The Adidas RPT-01 Sport Headphones are a real crowd-pleaser because they are new, they look great, they’re comfortable, and the battery lasts for 40 hours per charge which is practically unheard of for Bluetooth 5.0 headphones.
✔️ What we like: Comes with quick start guide and USB-C charging cable
❌ What we don’t like: Adidas headphone app doesn’t do much, it’s only available on Android
- Excellent Bluetooth connectivity
- Easy to use control knob
- Washable ear cushions
- Washable inner headband
- IPX4 water and sweat resistance
First off, it’s always nice to get headphones that are resistant to water and sweat. In this particular case, these headphones are going to survive and thrive if you get caught running in a rainstorm or if you sweat up a storm and get the ear pads soaking wet from your sweat.
They will function fine under the circumstances. But do not drop them into a toilet bowl or a swimming pool otherwise they might break because their level of water resistance doesn’t handle being submerged underwater for too long.
The washable inner headband and washable ear cushions are also a nice touch. These things can begin to smell after a while after you sweat and work out while using them time after time. You get to take them off, throw them in the washing machine, and have very clean and comfortable ear pads and inner headband cushions after they run through the wash which is great.
The Adidas headphone app leaves a lot to be desired. According to one reviewer, there really wasn’t very much going on with the app. Even worse, it’s only available for Android users so iOS device users are left out in the cold.
You’ll appreciate the Adidas RPT-01 Sport Headphones because of their 40 hours of continuous playtime, the easy control knob, the washable headband and inner ear cushions, and the convenient USB charging cable.
10. Phaiser BHS-530 Bluetooth Headphones
The Phaiser BHS-530 Bluetooth Headphones are an impeccable choice for those who like running, exercising, and breaking a sweat at the gym. They are durable, have Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity, 11 hours of pure battery life, and much more.
✔️ What we like: Lightweight headphones, memory foam ear tips
❌ What we don’t like: Control knob isn’t very effective
- Charges in less than two hours
- Heavy-duty design
- Universal Bluetooth headphones
- Comfortable ear tips
- Lifetime sweatproof warranty
An interesting thing about these earphones is the lifetime sweatproof warranty. The good people at Phaiser really want you to go all out and break a sweat while exercising or playing sports. How do I know this? They offer their customers a lifetime sweatproof warranty. If you ever sweat so much that you unintentionally break your earbuds, they will replace them and send you a brand-new pair free of charge because they appreciate their customers. Sweat damage will not hold you back any longer.
On the downside, one of the reviewers that I read said the control knob wasn’t very effective. She said that she had a difficult time adjusting the volume, skipping tracks or going forward, or performing other functions. This led to static that hurt and was very uncomfortable.
All in all, I can tell you with complete fair mindedness that the Phaiser BHS-530 Bluetooth Headphones are a great purchase. They have universal connectivity with every Bluetooth device, they are lightweight, they are designed to stay on your head while working out, and the lifetime sweatproof warranty is a tremendous edition that you may need to make the most of someday.
A Guide to Choosing the Best Wireless Workout Headphones
Are you unsure of my recommendations? Would you prefer choosing your own wireless workout headphones instead? I’ll share a brief but handy guide to help you choose the best wireless workout headphones to meet your needs and expectations.
Comfort is of the utmost importance when choosing the best wireless workout headphones. You do not want to spend hours in the gym with uncomfortable earbuds jammed into your ear canals. You’ll feel horrible at the end of your workout session because your ears will be sore, irritated, and in a great deal of pain.
Focus on finding earbuds that fit comfortably. More often than not, the best earbuds are the ones that offer multiple sizes for their ear tips because they provide maximum comfort.
Ergonomic Design for Sports
You also should focus your search on an ergonomic design. Why? This design style is ideal because it’s created specifically for sports enthusiasts and people who like to work out. You want to choose headphones designed to stay on your head and on your ears.
You do not want them constantly falling off and smashing onto the floor. If they do, they’re ultimately useless to wear while working out and you’ll end up breaking them anyway. So focus on comfortable ergonomic headphones designed specifically for sports and working out.
Finding the best wireless workout headphones or earbuds with long battery life is of critical importance. You may decide to go for a long run that will last for hours. The last thing you need is your earbuds or headphones running out of power. You’ll be upset that you don’t have your favorite tunes traveling along with you as you take to the open road. So consider battery longevity when making your pick.
